Santa Maria Aquamarine 14KYG Diamond Clasp Necklace - Maria Necklace
Aquamarine is one of my favorite colors from the Beryl Family of gemstones. We tend to associate the paler aqua color with the sea, especially the sea near the shore. However, there is another range of a much deeper aqua coloring that is actually more reminiscent of the deep water of the ocean. That deeper color is known as Santa Maria aquamarine and is renown worldwide for its near flawless beauty in addition to the deeper, richer and moodier shades of aquamarine. This original Santa Maria aquamarine was mined in Brazil back in the 1950’s and is the origination point of these luxurious stones. This particular strand of jaw-dropping aquamarine was stashed away for decades by the original collector. Needless to say, I was simply delighted to come across these remarkable collectible gemstones and I even saved a second strand for myself. In the world of gemology - the deeper the coloring of aquamarine, the more collectable and important the stones. Although the Santa Maria Mine in Brazil is now closed and has exhausted its supply of aquamarine, nocturnal aquamarine continues to be mined in Africa at various mines.
This gorgeous richly-colored graduated strand of Santa Maria Aquamarine has been carefully hand-knotted to create this memorable matinee length necklace. Fittingly, a remarkable and dainty 14KYG and diamond safety clasp in the shape of a delicate flower, completes the design and adds interest at the nape of the neck. The near flawless faceted rondelles range from 3mm to 7.2mm diameter. This collectable necklace is the perfect accessory to make a very important statement with only a whisper.
25 inches long / graduated from 3mm to 7.2mm / clasp .53 inches diameter.
