Onward & Upward . . . Back To Normal, Sort Of

Our Soon To Be New Home This past 1.5 years has felt a little like a roller coaster - with high points and low points. After a year and a half of self-isolation + being extremely careful of any in person contact, we now have what seems to be a solution for this horrible pandemic - the COVID-19 vaccine! Both my hubby and I had our vaccines way back in February/March because we are considered high risk . . . and over 65! Okay, that is just TMI. Hubby has been to several Dr appointments and does seem to...

Goodbye 2020 - Welcome 2021 / Cooking . . . ALL Day Long!

Image courtesy of KingOfthy First of all, the image above rather succinctly expresses our feelings about this past year! Good riddance (hopefully) to this horrible Pandemic and "Hello" to a year filled with hope . . . 2021. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then, and such is the case with our current (but outgoing) dysfunctional administration and the speedy invention of the new Coronavirus vaccines. At least for now . . . there is HOPE! Daphne 2021 - right after her grooming! My hubby and I have been under something akin to "House Arrest" for the...

Eye Of The Beholder - Lover's Eye Jewelry

Delphina Lover's Eye Locket I have written about this before (waaaay back in 2012), but considering recent developments - I thought this might be a good time to touch on this subject again. Some of you already know that my previous career, prior becoming a jewelry designer, was as an interior designer in Boston. That little snippet of information definitely explains my fascination with history, antiques and once again, the subject of Lover’s Eye Jewelry. You can read about the history of these remarkable little works of art in my blog post dated January 9, 2012, The Look Of Love...

I Can No Longer “Zip It”!

Let’s just get this straight and out of the way . . . up front. This post if NOT about the COVID-19 weight gain most of us have experienced for 6 months while attempting to stay at home and be safe & healthy. That fiasco has resulted in 200,000+ lives needlessly lost and millions of Americans sick, worried and grieving - asymptomatic or not.I have been such a good little retailer for so long, I feel as though I am about to BURST. Most of you probably do not know, but I was previously married and divorced. My first...

To ZOOM Or Not To ZOOM - That Is The Question!
Posted by Karen Sugarman Designs on
Okay, here is a little known fact . . . I was an educator for 4 years fairly soon after I graduated from college. Three of the years were spent teaching in Louisiana and a fourth year was spent teaching in Massachusetts. Back in those days, teaching was a wonderful opportunity for someone to work in the very rewarding field of education while spreading out their paycheck for a full year. We had the summer off and my search for adequate childcare finally seemed to be in a much better position. All of that ended when Prop. 2 1/2 came...
