Antique Enamel Vinaigrette Blue Topaz Lapis Quatrefoils Necklace - Brezza Dolce II Necklace
Sparkling hand-linked sky blue topaz oval chain is periodically intercepted with stations of diminutive cobalt blue lapis quatrefoils to creating a gorgeous backdrop for a most charming antique hand-painted enameled pendant. The one-of-a-kind pendant is actually a beautiful Victorian Austro Hungarian gilt silver vinaigrette used in its heyday to ward off the foul odors of the streets and/or as a remedy for faintness when filled with scented vinegar. This hot air balloon shaped vinaigrette with all-over enameled designs of young lovers in a woodland setting - reveals a an elaborate grill work gilt interior. Given the age of the vinaigrette (ca. 1880), it is in very good condition - the latch is in good working order and shuts tightly / no cracks in the still brightly painted exterior enamel, but what appears to be a long ago layer of shellac on the interior lid is flaking and chipping / grill-work cap fits snugly and this darling little work of art even contains what is probably the original wool cotton sponge underneath the grill. This one-of-a-kind necklace is certain to be a conversation piece.
